Colorado Governor Polis spoke at a press conference at the 38th Space Symposium in Colorado Springs to announce that Nooks, a veteran-owned business in the national security space, with the assistance of Summit Advanced Program Consulting, another veteran-owned company, will be expanding its operations to include Colorado Springs their most extensive nationwide offering.

Colorado Springs, CO, USA – April 20, 2023 – On April 18th, Colorado Governor Jared Polis and the Global Business Development Division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced that defense industry startup Nooks, a veteran-owned business to advance technology in the national security space, has selected Colorado Springs for expansion. Nooks will open its third and largest national location in Colorado Springs, offering flexible access to classified facilities and associated networks for use by industry and government partners.

Nooks has secured rights to a facility near the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus and expects to infuse millions into the local economy. The facility will provide government, industry, and academia a secure space where collaboration or segregation of classified activities can occur simultaneously. Nooks is currently the only company authorized to perform this work on behalf of the U.S. Government.

“I’m so happy to have been a part of the team responsible for bringing Nooks to Colorado. Colorado Springs continues to prove itself an amazing economy for veteran entrepreneurs and veteran-owned businesses. When I was approached to lead the Nooks expansion efforts in the Mountain West, I knew Colorado Springs had to be first in line. The support demonstrated by the Colorado Springs Chamber and EDC, the Colorado Springs City Council, and the Colorado OEDIT teams was remarkable. I am so thankful to Governor Polis and Mayor Suthers for their trust in me and this project.” said Trevor Nolan.

Colorado Springs provides a central location for Nooks, adding to their two other locations in Arlington, Virginia and El Segundo, California. In Colorado Springs, the company expects to create 35 new jobs. The positions will include site leads, security, and IT specialists.

Nooks CEO Sean Blackman said, “Our business would not be where it is today without Trevor, and I wish we could clone him. Every step along the way of our entry into the COS market, he was 2-steps ahead of us and had anticipated every need. He directly informed & executed our entry strategy into that market – I never could have imagined the results. I have been beyond thrilled with not only his work, but by the quality of his character. I’m a Trevor fan for life.”

Trevor’s support of the local community doesn’t stop in the for-profit defense industrial space. In under a month, his new company Military Might Publishing here in Colorado Springs, will publish his first book in a series, ‘Military Money: How To Thrive on a Government Salary’. This series was created to support active military service members and their families. The book series will confront issues facing today’s military and their families. Cuts to active duty pay and active duty food insecurity are on the rise. Military Might Publishing was created to help our service members face these challenges head-on.

Later in the fall, a children’s book, “The Penguin That Wanted to be a Seal!” will be published for the children of military members. All net proceeds from the children’s book will be donated to the Special Operations Warriors Foundation and the Navy SEAL Foundation.
