Even Mix™ Mixes Hand Sanitizer To Help Meet World Demand
Even Mix™ is providing mixing experience to hand sanitizer producers.

April 20, 2020 – Cleveland, OH – As the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to spread, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and WHO (World Health Organization) encourage us to wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer.   As a result of Covid-19 the demand for hand sanitizer has far outpaced the normal supply levels.  In response, several distillers, formulators, and commercial labs have started to produce hand sanitizer for hospitals, public health workers, public safety officers, and for use by the general population.

Generating the necessary supply of hand sanitizer to satisfy demand and help defeat Covid-19 requires not only alcohol and aloe vera gel but also the proper mixing equipment.  When it comes to mixing hand sanitizer, you need powerful technology that can achieve a cohesive mix. Failure to employ the correct mixing equipment can result in materials that are improperly combined, full of air, and inconsistent.

Several large commercial manufacturers needed to increase their productive capacity and small manufacturers and labs didn’t have the mixing capabilities to produce hand sanitizer.  Not all mixing equipment is able to properly mix the basic ingredients of 2/3 alcohol, 1/3 aloe vera gel.  The active ingredients in hand sanitizer are ethyl alcohol, or ethanol; isopropyl alcohol, which is found in rubbing alcohol; and benzalkonium chloride, which is commonly used in alcohol-free sanitizers.  These ingredients require a large mixing blade that will efficiently mix an end solution of approximately 1,000 to 6,000 centipoise. Additionally, due to the high content of alcohol the drive motor cannot be electric since it must be non-sparking since the mixture is flammable.

Our staff at Even Mix™ was able to consult with several of our customers (formulators and contract manufacturers, distilleries, labs, and chemical companies) to provide our experience and suggest the correct equipment to properly mix hand sanitizer.  The Even Mix™ patented mixing and blending system has proven to be a very effective mixing blade for hand sanitizer.  The large blade employed by Even Mix™ (16 inches wide by 4 inches tall) achieves a complete mix in a container in a short period of time.  We have several customers that are actively using the Even Mix™ Tote Mixer with a second set of blades to ensure that the mixing process is quick and complete.

Even Mix™’s patented IBC tote mixer technology has the ability to perfectly mix even the heaviest of materials.  This mixing blade is revolutionary in design, featuring heavy-duty power in a low weight design.  One of the main features that help this technology stand apart from the competition is the fact that it’s weight is low enough for one person to install and use—you no longer need two or more people or worse yet a forklift to install your mixing blade.  Additionally, since this mixing blade is designed specifically for IBC tote mixers, you can keep your hand sanitizer right in your tote, eliminating the need to move them to different vessels, saving you time, money, and frustration.  It mixes with a downward thrust to make sure that the mixing gets done even in the bottom corners of the IBC tote.
