For any event, to be completed in 2 days with the sharing of leading-edge scientific achievements from 6 Chinese and foreign academicians, exhibitions of 10 high-quality projects, communications and exchange among 10,000 professionals from more than 20 countries, participation of more than 30,000 viewers in the exhibitions and reporting by more than 100 journalists from more than 50 media at home and abroad, seems an impossible task, but GBAS is an exception! Shenzhen took the lead in entering track of robotics and AI industry innovation on the afternoon of February 2, when the GBAS 2019 came to a successful conclusion.

A Grand Industrial Event

In a new round of productivity revolution represented by intelligence +, 5G and other technologies, AI is becoming a powerful engine and driving force for China’s economic and social transformation. Shenzhen is committed to becoming China’s source of AI innovation and the leading position of the world’s cutting-edge AI industry, and Shenzhen Bay is now sending out the “world’s strongest voice” to embrace AI and embrace the future. In November, Shenzhen welcomed nearly a hundred AI academic leaders and industry leaders from all over the world. At the exhibitions, nearly a hundred domestic and overseas important enterprises showed up with AI applications and products with fantastic ideas. A large number of representatives of robotics and AI enterprises including ABB, Tencent, Skyworth, Foxconn, Ubtech, iFlytek, AEE, etc. delivered thematic speeches. A great member of themed forums gathering top industry guests were held in just 2 days.

On GBAS 2019, founders of unicorn companies including Ubtech, Orbbec, CloudMinds, Intellifusion, etc. brought the wisdom and vision of young entrepreneurs. Featured by two 5G & AI and Robotics Industry CEOs’ Thematic Speeches and Summit Forums, GBAS 2019 was chaired by Professor Ren C Luo, chairman of the summit organizing committee, and attracted more than 200 CTOs or engineers and nearly a hundred college teachers and students studying or researching in AI and 5G. These two forums focused on 5G closely, discussed and exchanged in depth from the landing of robotics and AI industry in line with the theme of “AI Industrialization and Industrial AI”.

GBAS 2019 was also featured by the Finals of Robotics and AI Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, before which nearly 200 high-quality projects were strictly screened and examined by professional judges, and finally, 10 projects including the DDS Low-speed Automatic Driving System, Global Intelligent Satellite Network Project, Power-based Intelligent Prosthesis for Improving the Mobility of the Disabled, Industrial Intelligent Solution Based on 3D Visual Human-Computer Interaction Technology, One-stop Central Nervous System Intelligent Diagnosis Platform, Ziyan Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Terminal-oriented Low-power Consumption AI Chip and System, Urban Smart Parking Solutions, 3D Visual Guidance System for Industrial Robotics, Leading Voiceprint Recognition and Intelligent Voice Solutions were selected to compete for the prize.

 A Grand International Event

Being committed to becoming an international summit with a global vision, GBAS 2019 attracted foreign experts, professors and heads of giant enterprises from the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan and Korea, and they brought their latest progress and results in international AI and robotics and other fields of progress achieved in the latest progress and results sharing. Also on the GBAS, academicians from the European Academy of Sciences, the Royal College of Physicians, the Hamburg Academy of Sciences in Germany participated in the AI topics in various forums, they brought unique and far-sighted AI thinking. With two parallel theme activities (2019 Sino-Japanese Scientists High-Level Forum and IEEE Sensor Theory and Industrial Applications (IEEE-NSENS)), the GBAS was linked to the world and further upgraded in the scale.

Meanwhile, in Shenzhen’s unique ecological environment of AI innovation, many international experts are willing to share their results. Toshio Fukuda, a foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the General Chairman of IEEE 2020, has attended the Summit on Robotics and AI for two consecutive years and delivered a thematic speech. This year, the academician Toshio Fukuda has made a special trip to the GBAS, which is a full recognition of the Summit and creates the possibility for building the international exchange platform for AI industry.

A Feast for the Future

Academicians and experts participated in the Summit discussed on how far robotics and AI can go in the future from multiple aspects including cutting-edge algorithms, brain-like intelligence, AI chips, big data, 5G, etc. The Greater Bay Area Robotics and AI Exhibition is a microcosm of the industrialization of robotics and AI, and showed the latest achievements in the field of Robotics and AI. Well-known enterprises including Sinocare, AEE, KKsrar. Turing Robotics, etc. participated in the exhibition. The exhibition set up the “interactive performance and experience area” to organize robot performance, 5G application experience and other interactive activities, and attracted a large number of viewers to experience the charm of future technology.

As the saying goes, the future needs innovation, while the innovation needs talent. GBAS 2019 officially implemented the “Star Plan”, held series activities of Talent Carnival, gathered high-quality enterprises and project teams in the 9+2 urban cluster in Greater Bay Area, provided over 500 jobs, released over 500 projects, and offered supporting expert guidance, office space and financing for quality projects. The “Star Plan” is in line with the new policy of building Shenzhen a center of scientific and technological innovation and gathering talents, as the future will certainly be the future of talents.

Report of The New Generation of Artificial intelligence in The Guangdong-HongKong-Macao Greater Bay Area (2019) was released on the GBAS 2019. Its significance was not only to provide decision-making and research references for the governments, research institutions, universities and enterprises in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau, but also, more importantly, to continue to contribute think tanks to the innovation and development of Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau in the new era.
